Arthritis

Arthritis isn’t one disease; it’s an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease. There are quite a hundred different types of arthritis and related conditions. People of all ages, sexes and races will and do have arthritis. More than fifty million adults and 300,000 youngsters have some kind of arthritis. It is most typical among ladies and occurs more frequently as people grow up.

Common arthritis joint symptoms include swelling, pain, stiffness and attenuated range of motion. Symptoms may come and go. They can be mild, moderate or severe. They may stay about the same for years, but may progress or get worse over time.

Types

**Osteoarthritis: **The most common variety of arthritis, osteoarthritis involves wear-and-tear damage to your joint’s cartilage — the hard, slick coating on the ends of bones. Enough damage may result in bone grinding directly on bone, that causes pain and restricted movement. This wear and tear will occur over many years, or it may be hastened by a joint injury or infection. Rheumatoid arthritis: In rheumatoid arthritis, the body’s immune system attacks the liner of the joint capsule, a tough membrane that encloses all the joint elements. This lining, referred to as the synovial membrane, becomes inflamed and swollen. The disease process can eventually destroy cartilage and bone among the joint.

Spondilitis

Spondylitis is one of the most common causes of back associated neck pain and is actually the results of an inflammation of the vertebral joints. The problem with detecting the condition is that it develops silently and involves prominence once the condition has totally developed. Pain in spondylitis is typically targeted around the cervical region of the neck, shoulder and lower spine with the instances and stings of pain flowing further downwards.

Types

Cervical spondylitis: that affects the cervical spine, causing the pain to spread towards the rear of the neck. Lumbar spondylitis: that causes the pain within the lumbar region. Ankylosing spondylitis: that is primarily a disease that affects the sacroiliac joints, causing stiffness within the lower back, hips, knees and chest.
